what to expect from your mini session
What to expect from a mini session with me.
So many of my clients are planners. From outfits to activities for their sessions, they love to check in with me to be sure it’s all going to go according to plan! I may not consider myself a planner, but I am a HUGE fan of communication.
So, for those of you who feel good knowing what to expect when arriving at your mini session rather than flying by the seat of your pants, below is a flexible schedule of our mini session.
My mini sessions are 40 minutes long. Within that 40 minutes, we make sure to get some posed, family portraits, a handful of lifestyle portraits, as well as free play/family hangs.
10 minutes of posed, more traditional family portraits - during this time I will pose you and give you direction
10 minutes of lifestyle portraits - these are playful and candid. I will give you some direction here, but mostly prompts to make you the happiest, loviest version of yourselves together.
20 minutes of free play - this is where I work my documentary photography magic. These photos are more creative and artful. I follow your family around while you play together, documenting your love and connection with your favorites.
I do my photos a little differently than most photographers, trying to get the most authentic, artful images of your family in the shortest amount of time. This system has worked for me for over a decade! I would love to answer any questions for you, anytime. Just hit that button below to connect.
Love, your photographer
Anna
What if mini sessions were like short stories? An activity that brought your family together, spending time engaging with one another, unplugged, and focused on the people you love most. Ignoring the camera and just allowing your life to be documented.
Hang out with your family while you spend some time at the beach. Bring a picnic, spend time with one another, and soak in the beauty of a classic PNW landscape as we document your family and your beautiful life together!
Seasonal beach mini sessions have quickly become my most popular lifestyle mini session offerings in Seattle.
The beach creates a wonderful backdrop for your family pictures.
I love this family. They are one of my brand new fams who I fell in love with the very first second we were together. They have told me time and time again that they loved their session at Golden Gardens.
Why did they love it??
Golden Gardens Beach is iconic - ask anyone in the Seattle area for recommendations on a great beach for the fam and this is top of the list.
Golden Gardens is gorgeous - expansive views, the Olympics in the background, trees, nature, and refreshing PNW weather. What more could you ask for?!
I’ve been offering holiday traditions sessions in November and December, documenting my families doing the special traditions that they love most, together. Baking cookies, decorating their Christmas tree, caroling, any memory-filled event that is special and important to them.
I’ve been toying with the idea for a while to offer these in the fall as well. Families can put on their costumes, decorate their porch for Halloween, carve their pumpkins… the sky is the limit!
Golden Gardens is a magical place.
And I love taking photos of my families there. Not only is the landscape beautiful, but it is a local park that is a meaningful memory-filled place for many of my clients.

People are always asking me about mini sessions. I get it. Your kids are growing like weeds. Your life is busier than you ever thought possible. And maybe that day in the life session that your heart is longing for, just always seems slightly out of budget.
