blueberry farm mini sessions

A girl in a floral dress picks blueberries for lifestyle summer mini sessions near Seattle.

The McDonald family goes to the farm again, the blueberry farm, that is!!! This family is an avid seasonal mini session family. I’ve photographed them at the tree farm, the pumpkin farm, in their backyard for summer mini sessions and even with Santa!! But I think blueberry farm mini session photos might be their favorite!!

I’ve been photographing blueberry farm mini sessions for three summers now and the McDonalds have been there every time! They are one of my OG families (phrase coined by Miranda - mama pictured here) , as they have been with me since the beginning.

I can’t even express my gratitude for my OG families. You all make my dreams come true. I love that I can work from home, raise my daughter and also pursue my dreams and passions in my photography business. That is because of all of YOU!

Kids being quirky and in their own world is super on brand for what my eye is drawn to and what my photography is about. I love celebrating what these kids are like in each season of life. Not just what they look like and photographing what physical features are different than last year, but also what is important to them, what they are interested in, how they act, the super weird stuff they do.

This is what makes documentary family photography unique.

When you ditch the posing and you provide an activity to do as a family (picking blueberries, for example), kids are given the space to be themselves. Which, in my experience, makes more honest, meaningful photos that resonate with families on a REAL level.

I can’t wait to make meaningful, heartfelt pictures for your sweet family.
