mini sessions at golden gardens // black and white
I just had the best time with this fam.
We met at the beach for Golden Gardens mini sessions. The day was beautiful and sunny — but also cold and windy. and they ROCKED IT!
My friends, I’m not sure if you know this about me, but I have a few superpowers.
the ability to talk people into partying longer
bringing people together
making people feel super loved
One of my superpowers, however, is not controlling the weather. Unfortunately, no matter how hard I try, I can’t for the life of me make the weather perfect for photos at all times.
What I can do, however, is be a good photographer no matter the weather. Today’s challenge: WIND.
Wind on the beach is a lot. Waves are crashing, sand is flying. It’s insane. But this family was game for making the most of it and having all the fun. It made my entire day to document their love and happiness of being together. These kids had so much fun together and their love is so apparent. In the middle of photos, they would randomly find each other for a hug or to show each other a shell they found on the beach, etc. Their connection was so fun to witness and document.
I love that wind can be artful.
Hair can be so full of personality. I know it may not fit the bill of what you imagined for your family pictures. But sometimes, when things happen differently than our expectations, they turn out even better.
One of the things that define me as an artist is my willingness to embrace the unexpected. I crave it. I crave the chaos to interrupt perfection. To kick to the curb boring family portraits and embrace the beauty of real life. I would love to do that for you in your next photo session.
Love your photographer

I love photographing kids in their natural element - doing their thing.
Among the seasonal mini sessions I offer, most are outside and many involve flowers. It’s always so fun to see kids get fully submerged in the nature around them, almost becoming one. Here are some photos of sisters doing just that.
Sibling love. I am here for it.
Photographing families is a pretty sweet gig. One of the things I enjoy the most is observing the connection between siblings.
Summer.
Ahhhh. That sweet aroma of fresh cut grass mixed with sunblock with a dash of sweat. Playing hard in the sun all the live long day.
I love photographing families being together during the summer.
Every time I photograph your family, I will look for details that help tell the story of your day. This helps tell a cohesive story of your time together as a family. Details are a great way to show those fleeting moments of childhood in, well, more detail.
From the messy topknot on your child’s head to the sand-covered hands burying her legs in seaweed, I want to document it all, so that you can relive those precious memories over and over for a lifetime.

Photos of your family as you watch the sun go down on a long summer day. The sprinkler droplets glowing in the sun like fairy dust. Your kids living their best life in your backyard. Photos that celebrate love and togetherness. Your family, doing what you love most, being together.
When I photograph your family, I search for stories. I find them while I’m making beautiful photos of meaningful connection and love. It may be the way your child is attached to a favorite stuffy or the fact that your daughter loves to wear a princess dress while she looks for worms in the woods.
I would love to meet your family in your backyard. And find those little stories that fill the pages of the book that uniquely represents your life, your people.

One of my main objectives when selecting a location for my seasonal mini-session events is to prioritize farms that allow pets. Why?
Because pets are family too.
