positive/negative space in your everyday life
think about the objects around you
A shadow is an example of negative space that you see every day. The positive space is the object and when the light hits that object, creates a shadow of negative space. A shadow or reflection can show an inverse of the original object, like this window below.
A horizon line, the line the ground makes when it meets the sky. The sky can be a great use of negative space in a picture. The ground is the positive space.
A silhouette. Similar to a shadow, an object silhouetted (looking dark against a bright backdrop) can appear as negative space. This one is a little less straight forward and can flip back and forth, depending on how you’re seeing it!
