Artful Senior Portraits in Seattle // A High School Senior's Happy Place in black and white

I recently had the pleasure of photographing a high school senior at his happy place - Alki Beach in West Seattle. As a lifestyle photographer, I love incorporating personal elements into my portrait sessions, and this was the perfect opportunity to do just that.

For this senior, Alki Beach isn't just a location—it's a space filled with memories, tranquility, and joy that define his high school years. It was only fitting that we capture his senior portraits in the spots they love the most.

We kicked off the session on the dock. He has spent countless hours here, watching boats come and go, feeling the salty breeze on his face. The dock’s weathered wood and the sparkling water provided a perfect backdrop, reflecting the calm and introspective side of his personality. He was totally in his element, and it showed in every shot. The natural, unforced smiles and the thoughtful gazes out at the horizon were pure and genuine.

Alki Beach is more than just a backdrop; it’s a character in his story. It’s where he goes to think, celebrate, and unwind. Capturing his senior portraits here wasn’t just about beautiful scenery; it was about documenting a place that holds a piece of his heart. The dock, the beach, the restaurant – each spot tells a part of his story, and now those stories are preserved in his senior portraits.

We wrapped up our session at his favorite local spot – a cozy beachside restaurant where he’s shared countless meals with friends and family. The atmosphere there is warm and inviting, just like this senior. We snapped some shots of him at his usual table, sipping on a soda and just soaking in the good vibes. The restaurant's quirky decor and his relaxed demeanor made for some really unique and personal portraits.

This session was a reminder that senior portraits don't have to be limited to traditional locations. By incorporating personal elements and meaningful locations, we can create truly unique and personalized portraits that reflect the senior's personality and interests.

So whether it's a library, a sports field, or a local cafe, don't be afraid to think outside the box when it comes to senior portraits. The possibilities are endless, and with a little creativity and a lot of enthusiasm, we can create something truly special together.

Love your photographer,
