2020/21 - the year(s) of the detox

I don’t know about you, but the year 2020/21 has me CRAVING any outdoor time I possibly can grab hold of. I am an extreme extrovert and a busy bee. I love staying busy with work, creating my art, and being with people. Family, clients, the baristas down the street, the pupper on my morning walk, basically any and all living beings. I am a social nugget and I have always been.

You might think that would make this past year tough for me. And in some ways, it was. But the truth is, it felt more like a detox to my soul. A detox from the perpetual need to find myself in my social life and how I fill my calendar. I’m not saying that being social or busy is wrong or even that it was wrong for me. But having a year to just say no to everything except myself was pretty empowering.

I took the year+ to focus on my art. And my family. The two most important things in my life. And it was therapy.

I know it wasn’t all good. And I would never want to gloss over or minimize the hardships of others.

But there was just something really special about that forced quality time with my family and time to focus on my business (catching up on things I’ve always been behind on - blogging for example) that enabled me to detox. And go into this new season filled up.

Maybe this resonates with you. Maybe your time of quarantine helped carve out the space for you to finally start that new project you’ve been putting off or learn how to play the ukulele. Maybe you grew exponentially closer to your partner or your kids. Or maybe your family drove you completely insane (there were times this was me too).

We’ve all changed, learned more about ourselves and grown in this challenging, unprecedented time. I would love to document your new family. The new connections you’ve made with the people you love most.

If I’ve learned anything, it’s that the cliches are true. Time is a thief and I’m gonna use every chance I can to soak in my life. If to you that means getting pictures, click that button below. I am here for it!

love your photographer
